A contractor who helped redevelop Anfield's Main Stand for Liverpool FC has hailed its latest financial results as "satisfactory" despite a dip in its turnover and profits.

Keith Walton Construction Company, which is headquartered in Nelson, Lancashire, has posted a turnover of £9.4m for the 12 months to December 31, 2021, down from £9.9m.

Its pre-tax profits were also cut from £1.4m to £838,652 over the same period.

The company completed a £3.6m contract for Carillion to help with the construction of Liverpool's new Main Stand at Anfield which opened in 2016.

A statement signed off by the board said: "The directors are pleased to report that, whilst group turnover has decreased, overall margins and profitability have remained satisfactory despite adverse marketplace conditions and increased competition.

"Management have continued to closely monitor and control group overheads and the directors consider the overall results for the year to be satisfactory."

It added: "The group's management have also identified a potential risk going forward in the acquisition and retention of bricklayers due to significant expansion in the new build housing market which, due to the nature of the works and inflated rates of pay, is attracting bricklayers from the commercial/industrial sector.
