Andrew Scott has been appointed main contractor to transform Porthcawl鈥檚 iconic Grand Pavilion venue.
The 拢20m revamp of the listed 1930s built Art Deco building is being funded by the 海角视频 Government鈥檚 Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), Bridgend County Borough Council and Welsh Government Transforming Towns Wales funding.
Works will include the conservation and repair of some of the building鈥檚 key features including its clock tower and stained-glass windows. The plans also include restoration of the building鈥檚 original domed roof, with new insulation, and the original marine-styled weathervane being reinstated.

Working in partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council and the Awen Cultural Trust, Swansea-based Andrew Scott said it will ensure that the pavilion鈥檚 historic character is preserved while delivering a contemporary cultural venue.

Family-run Andrew Scott, which last year moved into a new HQ in Swansea, saw revenues for its financial year to the end of June, 2024,climbing 15% on the previous year (拢73m) to 拢84m, with gross profit increasing by 91% to 拢12.1m and pre-tax profit rising to 拢5.2m from 拢1.7m.
Established in 1870 the company is now in the penultimate year of its five-year strategy plan and it on track to exceed revenue and profit goals.
It directly employs more than 230 in Wales with five times more in its supply chain.
