Conference to be held on South West trade links with China, India and Africa

The virtual event by the South West Business Council is being held on Friday, December 4

Cargo is prepared for export from the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ

Guest speakers including HRH Queen Diambi Kabatusuila of Kasai, Democratic Republic of Congo will be taking part in a virtual conference on Friday, December 4 exploring global trade links post-Brexit.

Queen Diambi joins the panel as part of her connection with the Biosphere’s UNESCO programme, forming an alliance with North Devon to improve water quality and tackling single use plastics.

She is the keynote speaker and will share her views on future opportunities for trade and partnerships between the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and Africa.

Tim Jones, Chairman of the South West Business Council, said: "We have a stellar line-up of speakers from business, national government and academia to discuss what future trade could look like for the South West. From exploring global markets to opening up new opportunities with Europe, we’ll go behind the rhetoric to explore how regional business can thrive in unprecedented times."

There will also be discussions led by Paul Shand, Head of Trade, South West, Department for International Trade, on business readiness in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ Brexit transition.

Ben Travers, Head of IP & IT, Stephens Scown LLP will give tips for global exporters and Janet Sawyer BEM, MBE, Chairman of Vanilla specialists, Little Pod Ltd, will discuss cracking Japan.

Professor Alex de Ruyter, Director, Centre for Brexit Studies, Birmingham City University will explore prospects for global trade – Europe, India and the Commonwealth.
