Colmore Business District sculpture trail celebrates RBSA's 200 years in Birmingham

Followers of the trail can explore the diversity of some of the RBSA’s leading artists and buy their artworks

A sculpture trail has been launched to celebrate ’ 200 years in Birmingham.

The RBSA Crossing the Bridge Sculpture Trail will see over 50 sculptures, constructed in a variety of materials including stone and bronze, take up home in 17 venues across and .

Followers of the trail can explore the diversity of some of the RBSA’s leading artists and buy their artworks.

Starting , venues along the Trail include Hotel du Vin, Utopia, Clements and Church, Urban Coffee Company, Saint Kitchen, St Paul’s Church and St Paul’s Place, ending at the RBSA Gallery on Brook Street, which is exhibiting a group show on the ground floor.

Robert Neil, president of the RBSA, said: “The Trail is part of the RBSA’s drive to engage with its local business community as well as highlight the skills of its sculptor Members.

“Over its 200-year history, the RBSA has featured exhibitions and work from a breadth of artists and mediums.

“This year we have a number of exhibitions and special projects planned to celebrate the rich heritage of the organisation and past and present Members. Not only that, but we will also look forward, planning for the future and another 200 years of art.”

The RBSA is one of the oldest Art Societies in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and played an important part in the Pre-Raphaelite movement. Sir John Everett Millais and Sir Edward Burne-Jones both served as presidents.
