Champneys luxury spa group sees £8.4m losses for third year in a row

Despite its turnover nearing a significant milestone, celebrity luxury spa group Champneys has reported further losses.

The group, which operates several sites nationwide and was established a century ago, recorded a pre-tax loss of £8.4m for the year ending 30 April 2024, according to recently filed accounts with Companies House, as reported by .

This follows a loss of £5m in the previous year. The group last posted a pre-tax profit in the year ending April 2022, amounting to £834,774.

However, the latest results also indicate that Champneys increased its turnover from £56.5m to £58.2m during its most recent financial year.

The number of guests visiting the group's sites rose from 273,444 to 277,602 over the year, although revenue per guest fell slightly from £204 to £202.

The company stated: "Post year end the biggest challenge has continued to be global, national, economic and political uncertainty which is still ongoing."

Champneys, known for its A-list clientele including Daniel Craig, Brad Pitt, Kate Moss, Anthony Joshua and Naomi Campbell, operates locations such as Forest Mere in Hampshire and the original Henlow spa in Bedfordshire.

In addition to its resort spas, Champneys runs several day spas, an education and training business, and sells a range of personal care products through retailers.
