Businesses can sign up Nottingham Trent University graduates on fully-funded eight-week internships

Last year’s scheme saw more than 280 internships take place and a 93 per cent approval rating from employers

Businesses are being offered the chance to sign up graduates on a fully-funded eight week internship being offered by Nottingham Trent University.

The scheme has been launched to offer businesses access to extra resource, fresh ideas, new skills and different perspectives – while the recent graduates gain valuable internship opportunity to develop employability skills via a graduate level role.

Last year’s scheme saw more than 280 internships take place and a 93 per cent approval rating from employers. The current scheme applies to students who graduated last summer.

Pippa Routledge is senior account director at London-based Gung Ho communications, which participated in the scheme in 2022.

She said: “The scheme is a fantastic support and provides crucial practical experience for graduates looking to navigate the market post university,”

Previous participating businesses have used the scheme to explore how a graduate role can be embedded into their business, before extending the internship into a permanent role supported by the university’s employability team.

The team will support organisations by managing applications, shortlisting, interviewing and matching graduates to the vacancy they have submitted. The university will then fully fund the graduate’s salary for the duration of their internship – up to 35 hours per week for eight weeks.

Helen Puntha, head of the university’s Green Academy, who also accessed the scheme in 2022, said: "The scheme is excellent. I feel it's a win-win – the graduate gained experience, we gained valuable skills and a fresh perspective and could get some work completed which we could not have otherwise resourced."
