A firm which specialises in rare and commemorative silver coins and medals has been launched in North Staffordshire.
Specialist coin and medal business was born out of the success of its sister company Hattons of London, which was launched in June 2017.
Hattons of London – which specialises in rare and exclusive gold coins – employs 45 staff at its offices in King Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme, and is preparing to relocate to ‘significantly larger’ town centre premises at Copthall House in June after seeing its business continue ‘almost uninterrupted’ despite the coronavirus outbreak.
Now sister business Sterling Mint has been launched to complement Hatton’s offering with a host of new silver coins and medals.
At the moment, Hattons of London is donating its staff, premises and infrastructure to Sterling Mint for the handling of all orders.
But bosses hope to create up to 30 new jobs at Sterling Mint over the next three years.
Karen Barley, head of sales and operations at Hattons of London, said: “Sterling Mint was officially established in February with a view to launching in April.
“The original idea was that Sterling Mint would offer a range of coins and medals in silver to complement the offering of Hattons of London which obviously specialises in gold.

“At the moment, Hattons of London is providing all of the staffing requirements, premises and infrastructure to Sterling Mint free of charge, but in the long term we would expect Sterling Mint to employ as many as 30 people, so the future is very exciting.”
Initial plans to launch the new company in early 2020 were derailed by the outbreak of Covid-19.
But instead of postponing, Sterling Mint decided to launch with a focus on making a positive contribution towards the national coronavirus relief effort.
It has now launched its Heroes of 2020 collection to celebrate the country’s key workers and raise £2 million for the NHS.
One hundred per cent of the profits from the sale of each silver medal will go to the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Appeal.
Each medal recognises the valuable contribution of key workers across the 海角视频 including doctors, nurses and carers, ambulance crews, NHS volunteers, pharmacists and pharmacy workers, police, the Armed Forces and reservists, firefighters, teachers and essential workers.
