Building supplies giant MKM has appointed a new chief executive.

Kate Tinsley, who has held senior leadership roles as companies including Ibstock, will start as CEO of Hull-based MKM in September.

Bain Capital invested in MKM in 2017 and had been working with founder David Kilburn to find a successor as chief executive to help drive the business to further growth.

Ms Tinsley has worked in the building industry for more than 20 years, most recently as divisional managing director of Ibstock Clay and as a member of the Ibstock plc board. Before that she was with the Grafton Group for seven years in roles including CEO of the Buildbase group of companies.

She is also a non-executive director of the Football Association.

David Kilburn said: "This is a very exciting time in the growth of MKM and Kate is the perfect choice to take us on our journey.

"She is very much a people person who has admired and envied our success. She will be a strong advocate of developing and continuing our unique business model."

He added: "Kate is a proven operator with a high-class reputation. This is a great appointment for MKM."
