The finalists of the BristolLive Business Awards - in association with BusinessLive - have been announced for 2021.

Companies in and around Bristol have faced substantial challenges in the past 20 months as a result of the pandemic interrupting operations and, often, making it difficult to conduct business.

Despite these obstacles, businesses in Bristol have showed fortitude and determination, working to ensure that operations kept running. Many companies innovated and adapted to the changing circumstances to survive - and even thrive - despite the odds.

In a year like no other, businesses in the Bristol region explained how they are continuing to invest, strengthen and grow, despite incredibly difficult trading conditions.

This year the judges gathered virtually to review all the entries and decide the winners. The judging panel for 2021 included:

  • Keith Rundle, director of BIDs, Bristol City Centre BID
  • Sado Jirde, director, Black South West Network
  • Alan Bailey, director, Future Leap
  • Jonathan Riley, partner and practice leader for the South West and Wales, Grant Thornton
  • Tony Lawless, managing director, Bristol Waste
  • Emma Slee, regional editor for Bristol, Gloucestershire and Somerset, Reach plc
  • Hannah Baker, South West editor, BusinessLive
  • James Kingston, managing director and ambassador for the British Institute of Recruiters, Kingston Barnes
  • Jane Guy, director, The Bristol Hotel Doyle Collection
  • James Durie, director, Business West

BusinessLive's South West editor Hannah Baker said: “Congratulations to all the finalists for making the shortlist. There were some fantastic entries this year following a difficult 20 months for the business community. Well done to everyone who entered."
