The Birmingham Publicity Association has formally appointed its new chairman in the shape of Andy Dickey.

Mr Dickey is chief growth officer at PR and marketing agency McCann in Solihull and was appointed at the organisation's 69th AGM in Digbeth.

He succeeds Joanne Harrington, of Orion Media, who chaired the organisation from 2013 to 2015 and who will continue to serve on the BPA Council.

The AGM also saw the appointment of Emma Holsey, business development executive at ITV, as deputy chairman.

Mr Dickey said: "I am really excited about taking on the role of BPA chair and continuing the great work that Jo and the committee have been doing over the last couple of years.

"Having been a committed member of the BPA for almost ten years, I have enjoyed many of the events the BPA organises and I really felt it was time I put something back in to the organisation.

"I have two main objectives - to raise as much money for the worthwhile causes the BPA supports as possible and to increase the membership so that more people are aware of the great work being done to support the media and creative industries in the region."

The BPA was formed in the 1930s and strives to bring the creative industries in the Midlands closer together.
