Medical products firm The Binding Site has appointed a new chief executive.
Stefan Wolf has joined the Birmingham-based company from Thermo Fisher Scientific where he was global division president in charge of its clinical diagnostic and immunodiagnostic divisions.
He replaces Charles de Rohan who is retiring from his post after a decade with the company but will remain part of the team as a board director.
The Binding Site, which is based on the Calthorpe Estate in Edgbaston, provides specialist diagnostic products to clinicians and laboratory professionals worldwide.
Chairman Carl Hull said: "We are delighted to bring someone of Stefan's calibre to The Binding Site.
"Stefan has spent his entire career of over 30 years in the in vitro diagnostics industry.
"His experience and international profile are valuable assets to us and both will allow him to leverage the company's science-based culture to accelerate our track record of innovative growth.
"I fully understand and support Charles's request to move to an advisory role and I am very happy that we will retain his experience on the board."

In other appointments news, Solihull Chamber of Commerce has named Tony Elvin as its new president.
Mr Elvin is general manager of the town's Touchwood shopping centre and succeeds Robert Elliot in the role after two years.
He also runs The Wine Events Company, is a champion for charity Cure Leukaemia, a trustee of Birmingham Civic Society and deputy chairman of Solihull Business Improvement District.
Eileen Schofield, employment lawyer and principal at Schofield and Associates, has been appointed as vice-president of the chamber.
Mr Elvin said: "Robert has held this position with care, sincerity, good humour and commitment. All values that I hope to emulate during my tenure.
"With the arrival of HS2 and the redevelopment of Solihull town centre on the horizon, we have much to be excited for but it won't be plain sailing in the meantime.

Private equity house LDC has appointed Craig Hinde as origination director in its Midlands team.
He will be based in the firm's Birmingham and Nottingham offices and responsible for identifying potential investment opportunities in the region, leading transactions and supporting the management teams of LDC's portfolio businesses.
Mr Hinde joins from marketing business Inspired Thinking Group where he was business development director and brings nine years of experience in private equity and working with private equity-backed businesses.

Commercial litigation specialist Andrew Wylde joins Lodders as a senior associate in the firm's 13-strong dispute resolution team and trusts and estate planning specialist John Padget joins as an associate in the private client department.
Mr Wylde previously led the commercial litigation team of East Midlands firm Ringrose Law Solicitors for five years and was a partner at Irwin Mitchell.
Mr Padget has several years of experience working solely in private client law, including providing advice on trusts and estates administration, estate planning, wills, lasting powers of attorney, inheritance tax and capital gains tax.
He joins Lodders from Meridian Private Client in Birmingham where he was an associate working principally on estate planning for high net worth individuals.
Coventry-based security and communications company Optilan has boosted its senior management team with the appointment of Adrian Bannister as chief financial officer.
He has more than 25 years of experience in senior financial roles and was involved in the buyout of the Sparrows Offshore team in 2000 and was most recently CFO at specialist energy tech business Ardyne.
Optilan works with firms in the energy, infrastructure, pipeline and rail sectors.
Law firm Squire Patton Boggs has promoted two solicitors to partner in its Birmingham office.
Michelle Adams and Victoria Jeacock are part of a round of promotions in which a total of 23 lawyers have been promoted to partner level within the firm.
