The Birmingham Post Rich List 2020 is published today

The number of billionaires in the West Midlands is on the rise after property magnate Tony Gallagher surpassed the landmark figure.

The annual Birmingham Post Rich List is published in print and online today and now features 11 billionaires.

Mr Gallagher, who runs Gallagher Developments, has seen his personal fortune rise from £925 million in 2019's list

He joins Aston Villa's joint owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, Wolverhampton Wanderers' chief Guo Guangchang and West Bromwich Albion boss Guochuan Lai among the region's richest individuals.

The 2020 Rich List is published in association with bespoke investment management company Quilter Cheviot.

Construction, property and manufacturing also feature heavily in the list of the region's 50 wealthiest people which also includes household names such as JCB owner Lord Bamford, John Cauldwell, founder of now defunct retailer Phones4u, and 100 year-old air-conditioning tycoon Jacques Gaston Murray and family.

The entry price for making the 2020 list has stayed the same as last year at £115 million.
