The billionaire founder of a global HR and health and safety consultancy is to hand staff a £3.8m profit share bonus.

Peter Done, the group managing director of The Peninsula Group, decided to double the amount given to eligible employees this year, after the demand for its services soared during the pandemic.

The Manchester-headquartered group said that calls to the Peninsula, BrightHR and Croner hotlines have quadrupled.

It added that Health Assured's EAP services supported over 15 million lives, seeing a 37% increase in calls to their mental health hotline in the last 12 months alone.

Mr Done is the brother of fellow Bedfred founder Fred and together their net wealth was said to be £1.235bn, according to the Sunday Times Rich List in 2021.

Mr Done said: "It has been a year of achievement through unprecedented times. Peninsula Group companies have helped keep the business world moving during a time of crisis, something that I entirely credit to the hard work of our talented teams.
