Dozens of small owls have appeared across the city as part of a fundraising scheme in aid of Birmingham's sick children.
Children from more than 100 schools and community groups have spent the last few months painting and decorating 122 owlets with their own designs as part of 'The Big Hoot' campaign.
The project will raise cash for Birmingham Children's Hospital and the small statues are now in display at 18 venues across the city where they will be on show for ten weeks.
Then they will be returned to the schools to keep as a permanent memento of their contribution to the project which is backed by the Birmingham Post .
Pupils from The Oval Primary school in Yardley and King Edward's VI Sheldon Heath Academy, who have taken part in the project, boarded the open-top 'Big Birmingham Buz' to make their way to Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery where they showed off some of their owlets.
The event, dubbed Big Hoot's Little Hoot, comes ahead of the main event which will see 80 giant owl sculptures forming a trail across the city.
The giant owls have been decorated by artists and community groups and sponsored by local businesses.
They will appear at locations yet to be announced across Birmingham from July 20 for ten weeks.
After local communities and thousands of visitors have enjoyed The Big Hoot during its ten-week run, the large owls will be auctioned off in October to raise funds for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
The Big Hoot is the latest mass participation public arts event from Wild in Art, which famously attracted worldwide headlines with a similar event in Bristol called 'Gromit Unleashed'.
The 2013 project, which saw 80 giant artist-decorated fibreglass sculptures of Wallace & Gromit dogs land in Bristol, saw 42 per cent of trail tourists visiting from outside the city and raised £3.8 million for Bristol Children's Hospital.
It organises education classes at schools through its projects, and the schools of King Edward VI in Birmingham have become education partners of The Big Hoot scheme.
Denis Ramplin, director of marketing and communications at the schools, said: "The Big Hoot has been an inspiration to so many children.
"It has helped them to develop many arts skills plus an appreciation of creativity.
"Having seen many of the owlets that have been produced I know that the children at schools in Birmingham have produced exhibits which we can all enjoy across the city."
Louise McCathie, director of fundraising at the hospital, said the cash raised would be spent on everything from Christmas gifts for patients to world-class research.
Specific projects to benefit from October's auction will be its campaign to raise £1 million to build Magnolia House - a facility to support children and their families - and the £300,000 scheme called 'Let Us Play' which will provide playrooms on every hospital ward.
Mrs McCathie added: "This is all about celebrating the children of Birmingham and their creativity, as well as spreading the message of the work of the hospital."
