A special guided tour of the city will take place next month to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War as part of (BBAP).

The 'Big Brum Buz' will be taking visitors around the city on an open top bus to hear stories about Birmingham's involvement in The Great War including Neville Chamberlain's rousing inspirational speech and the massive recruitment parade in Victoria Square.

BBAP honorary secretary Dominga Devitt said: "This is a brilliant opportunity to get out and about and see and hear stories of the city from that era.

"It is an important way to keep the stories of World War One alive.

"Being part of this experience not only reminds us of stories from the past but the funds will raise money to shape our city's future.

"A new modern piece of art will stand testament to Birmingham's legacy on the country that we can all be part of."

The Birmingham Big Art Project is a Birmingham Civic Society initiative, supported by Birmingham City Council, and has a target of raising a minimum of £2 million for a permanent artwork in the city.

The overall aim is to put the city on the international art map, with the new artwork becoming a tourist attraction in its own right.
