A Stoke-on-Trent-based manufacturer headed to the USA for its biggest ever project - for global animation firm DreamWorks.
The Surface Design Studio, which is based in Brindley Ford, Stoke-on-Trent, took on a project for the company's latest attraction, American Dream.
The company, which is world-renowned for their custom-made tile production - was asked to complete a custom swimming pool design for the lazy river feature of the waterpark.
It produced more than 18,500 tiles in four weeks and spent a further month installing the bespoke pieces at the New Jersey attraction.
The Surface Design Studio director, Mark Wood said: "The size and scale of this project is the biggest we’ve ever done.
"We were contacted by DreamWorks through our website and they needed a quick turnaround of tiles that met their quality testing.
"Due to our kiln fired tiles and colourfast technology we passed their testing and started producing tiles for the project."
The lazy river boasts three unique areas featuring The Penguins of Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and Shrek. The design was created by the DreamWorks design team and will allow visitors to float around and experience the different areas dedicated to the featured DreamWorks characters.

Mark added: "The best part about the project was being able to complete consultations, this meant I could offer the best advice and get actions agreed quickly.
"We could offer solutions such as using different sized tiles to reduce cost implications and installation times for the project, which was a great solution for the project as it was on a tight timescale."
On the back of the lazy river project, The Surface Design Studio has received a further request from DreamWorks for more tile projects for the waterfall and wave pool.
As part of the American Dream attraction, DreamWorks is also installing a shopping mall, indoor theme park and full-sized ice rink.
The Surface Design Studio, which employs 12 staff in Stoke-on-Trent, is part of the Digital Ceramics Systems Ltd Group.
The company - which also has offices in the USA and the Middle East - offers completely customisable design services alongside both wall and floor tiles.
It has completed a host of impressive projects across many industries including restaurants, hotels, offices and health clubs, and has worked with a number of big-name brands such as McDonald's, Nando's, Jamie's Italian and the London Underground.
