West Yorkshire beer maker Amity Brew Co has secured funding to expand sales at home and abroad, amid expansion of its production.
The Farsley-based brewer has received £150,000 investment from Finance Yorkshire's loan fund which will be used to fit out its new production facility at Albion Mills in Greengates, Bradford. Amity says the ramped up capacity will feed its taproom in Sunny Bank Mills, and help it grow sales overseas in new markets such as Europe, Asia and Scandinavia.
Amity Brew was founded in 2020 by Rich Degnan and Russell Clarke, and has since traded from its Farsley brewpub and via an online shop. The label has developed a range of beers including pilsner, porter, lager and pale ale, as well as gluten free options.
Mr Degnan said: "We are ambitious to expand our offer to customers across West Yorkshire as well as further afield. With the support of Finance Yorkshire, our new brewery operation will enable us to stay true to our vision of community, friendship and good beer while extending our reach to a much wider customer base.”
Earlier this year, Bradford Council gave permission for Amity to create its new brewing operation at Greengates. Meanwhile, the firm is also refurbishing its Farsley venue - replacing the brewing area with additional seating - amid plans to open the venue six days per week.
The Finance Yorkshire funding has also facilitated the appointment of Josh Waldock as sales and events manager. Mr Waldock said: "My journey started behind the bar where I developed a deep appreciation for the art of brewing and the stories that come with every pint. Whether it’s collaborating with like-minded breweries, organising unforgettable events or exploring new ways to grow, I’m all about making meaningful connections that drive results. I’m excited to be part of Amity as we build something special in Bradford and beyond."
Alex McWhirter, CEO of Finance Yorkshire, said: "In a short space of time, the Amity Brew team have established a solid and exciting brand which is ready to broaden its appeal to a larger home and a new and developing overseas market. Finance Yorkshire is looking forward to supporting Amity with investment for its new brewery and equipment which will help fulfil the team’s enthusiastic growth ambitions – particularly as a community-orientated business."
Finance Yorkshire’s loan fund is part of a wider regional business fund which is expected to provide more than £50m to small and medium-sized businesses over five years.
