£5m catering contracts on offer at Birmingham 2022

Organisers of next year’s Commonwealth Games have launched a tender process to find suppliers for venues across the city region

£5m in catering contracts are up for grabs at the 2022 Commonwealth Games

Around £5 million worth catering contracts supporting 2,000 jobs are now up for grabs at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the Birmingham.

The organising team has launched the tender process for the games next summer to feed and water spectators, athletes, officials, volunteers and staff.

There are five separate tender opportunities to supply both competition and non-competition venues including Alexander Stadium, Sandwell Aquatics Centre, Sutton Park and fan zones.

Successful suppliers will be expected to demonstrate initiatives that deliver social value to Birmingham 2022, the city and local community.

The contracts will be awarded this summer.

John Crabtree, chairman of the Birmingham 2022 board, said: "These games have always been about providing tangible, transformational opportunities and this is a great demonstration of how real those benefits can be.

"We have a well-earned reputation for delivering incredible food in the city and region and I know there are talented, ambitious, proven suppliers who will be relishing the opportunity to bid for these lots.
