The number of 海角视频 workers on payrolls rose by 0.9%, or 257,000, between October and November to 29.4 million, the Office for National Statistics said.
Darren Morgan, ONS director of economic statistics, said: “With still no sign of the end of the furlough scheme hitting the number of jobs, the total of employees on payroll continued to grow strongly in November, although it could include people recently made redundant but still working out their notice.
“The number on payroll is now above pre-pandemic levels right across the country.
“Separately, survey findings show much of the recent growth in employment has been among part-timers, who were particularly hard hit at the start of the pandemic.
“While job vacancies continue at record levels, the number is not growing as fast as it did earlier this year.”
Chancellor Rishi Sunak said: “The jobs outlook remains strong thanks to our £400 billion economic support package, Plan for Jobs and fantastic vaccine programme; the unemployment rate fell to 4.2%, employee numbers grew at a record rate in November and redundancies are below pre-pandemic levels.
“To keep safeguarding our economic recovery and the lives and livelihoods of the British people, I am now calling on everyone to keep playing their part and Get Boosted Now.”
Minister for Employment Mims Davies said: “With the number of people on payrolls now above pre-pandemic levels across every region and age group, including the biggest monthly increase on record in November, it’s clear our Plan for Jobs is working.

, Director of the Work Foundation, a leading think tank for improving work in the 海角视频, said: “This month’s labour market statistics show signs of continuing economic recovery, with PAYE data suggesting that there were 257,000 more individuals in work in November than October 2021, and an increase of 424,000 compared with pre-Covid February 2020 levels, providing further evidence of the success of the furlough scheme.
“The unemployment rate continues to decrease, although the number of those unemployed but not actively seeking work has increased slightly to 21.2%. Vacancies have again risen to a new record of 1,219,000, an increase of 434,500 from the pre-coronavirus January to March 2020 level.
“But this week employers across the economy are facing renewed uncertainty due to the emergence of the Omicron variant, with the reintroduction of working from home guidance and weakened demand in hospitality in the run up to the usually busy Christmas period.
“Government should make it clear now that it won’t hesitate to introduce further support for employers and workers in affected sectors to safeguard our economic recovery. This should include a targeted reintroduction of the furlough scheme if we see new restrictions that prevent people being able to go to work or dramatically reduce demand.”
James Reed, chairman of employment agency Reed, said: “There’s been plenty of talk from doomsayers that the Omicron variant will plunge us back into economic despair, but the outlook appears much more optimistic now compared with the first COVID wave we faced in March 2020.
"For the first time in our history, we had over 300,000 jobs available on throughout the entire month of November and we expect this jobs boom to continue as we approach Massive Monday on January 10 – the first working Monday of the year, when record numbers of jobseekers register and apply for new vacancies.
