The 2021 Nottinghamshire Live Women in Business Awards have been cancelled because of growing concerns over the Omicron Covid variant.

The editorial and events management team at parent company Reach Plc has made the difficult decision to cancel the awards which were due to take place on Tuesday, December 14, at the Goosedale events venue in Papplewick.

Nottinghamshire Live editor Natalie Fahy said: "It's really disappointing we can't get together to celebrate the achievements of women across Nottinghamshire.

"However, I'd like to offer my congratulations to all the finalists, who've triumphed in their enterprises during what has been an extremely challenging business climate."

The Women in Business Awards, which are headline – a Nottingham business that has been supplying blinds, curtains and shutters for five decades – recognise the inspiring work and accomplishments of a businesswomen from across Nottinghamshire.

These were due to have been the first Nottinghamshire Women in Business Awards to be held in the county since before the first lockdown – paying tribute to the best managers, entrepreneurs, directors, SME owners and young business leaders out there.

In a message to finalists, guests and sponsors, Reach Plc said: “Due to the rise in Covid infection rates and recent government announcements, the decision has been made not to go ahead with the live event and I am sure you will agree that this is the most sensible thing to do.

“We are so disappointed that we will be unable to celebrate with you in person, but your safety is of the utmost importance to us.
