The £1m action plan for Wales' creative industries

The Welsh Government have announced an action plan to encourage more talent to enter Wales' growing creative arts scene

Wales' creative sectors generated £1.7bn for the Welsh economy last year

The Welsh Government has announced a £1m fund for the growing music, digital content, TV and film industries in Wales. The fund is part of plans develop the "next generation of talent" as well as upskill existing workers in those sectors.

The new Creative Skills Action Plan for 2022 to 2025 aims to make Wales a "thriving and creative place to do business" .

It will focus on three priority sectors - music, digital content, and film and TV - with the £1m creative skills fund supporting projects delivering high-quality skills and training projects within those industries. Between £15,000 to £200,000 will be available for successful projects until 31 March 2024.

The creative sectors generated £1.7bn for the Welsh economy last year, while employing around 35,400 people in Wales.

Now the Welsh Government want the action plan to integrate these sectors into the classroom at an early age and make them a realistic and viable career choice for young people.

It also aims to provide employment opportunities and address the disconnect between young people leaving education and industry employment needs.

Existing talent will also be supported with career progression.
