Liverpool firms have welcomed a host of new top appointments recently.
They range from legal firms to financial services to communications across the city, who have announced a flurry of new arrivals over the past few weeks.

1. Sophie Attwood
Colliers International has appointed Sophie Attwood as Head of its Liverpool Office.
Sophie joined Colliers in 2016 as part of its national Rating division and will head the Liverpool team from its Exchange Flags offices in the heart of Liverpool’s business district.
She said: “I’m excited to take on this new challenge. Having worked in Liverpool for the past 10 years, I know the market well and have an in depth understanding of what makes Liverpool’s business community tick.
"Throughout my career in rating, I have worked with influential players in the city to present cases at valuation tribunal, provide casework settlements, market rent valuations and reductions of rates liabilities for a range of businesses."

2. Charlie Berry

The Liverpool office of KPMG has grown its Deal Advisory practice with the appointment of Charlie Berry as a corporate finance associate.
Charlie’s appointment will strengthen the team as it continues to support local businesses on a range of mergers and acquisitions, with a particular focus on disposals, management buy outs and refinancing deals.
The Wirral native joins KPMG’s Princes Parade office from Grant Thornton’s transaction services practice in Manchester, where he specialised in vendor due diligence for private equity and corporate transactions.
He said: “KPMG’s Deal Advisory practice is well known throughout the region and I’m looking forward to working closely with the team and colleagues from across the network."
3. Bill Braithwaite
Bill Braithwaite QC from Exchange Chambers in Liverpool has been appointed as a trustee and expert advisor to the 海角视频’s first intensive Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) rehabilitation centre focused on outdoor activities.
Calvert Reconnections, run by the Lake District Calvert Trust (LDCT), will open its doors later this year after a £1m fundraising programme.
Working with clinicians and academics, the new centre will combine traditional multi-disciplinary clinical therapies with physical and sporting activity in the outdoors to support individuals in their recovery from brain injury.

4. Liz Braude
Leading independent legal practice Brabners has strengthened its private client team with the appointment of consultant Liz Braude.
Liz joins from Laytons and was previously the head of private client at Pannone before the firm merged with Slater and Gordon.
She has 20 years’ experience covering all aspects of the private client field and has acted for high net-worth families across the North West. Liz’s areas of specialism include trust law and succession planning for family members with special needs such as learning or behavioural difficulties and physical disability.
5. Duncan Firth
Duncan Firth, 46, has been promoted to managing director of Walker Sime, the large regional property consultancy with offices in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.
Founders Des Walker and Jon Sime have assumed new roles focusing on quality, governance and client relationships.
Mr Firth joined the business in 2015 tasked with establishing its project management division.
That followed a successful consultancy career which included delivering the City of Manchester Stadium in time for the Commonwealth Games and a period as a director of Deloitte where he delivered a number of key pieces of infrastructure for the London Olympics.
He said: “We have a unique culture here that places our clients and our staff front and centre and it will be more of the same. The team here have built a really solid business over more than twenty years and my job will be to help them develop it further.”

6. Christine Hewson
KPMG has also appointed Christine Hewson as its new North Region Chair. She takes on the role from Chris Hearld who was recently named Head of Regions nationally after joining the firm’s executive leadership team.
Based in KPMG’s Leeds office, Christine is an elected member of the firm’s 海角视频 Board and has more than 20 years’ experience working across its operations in the North of England, having led its northern Tax & Pensions and Retail practices. She was appointedto KPMG’s partnership in 2006 having joined as a graduate in 1989.
In addition to her role on the 海角视频 Board, she sponsors the firm’s partnership with Bedford High School in Leigh. She was also invited to the Northern Power Women’s Power List in 2017 and mentors women in business and not for profit sectors across the region.
7. Colette McKune
Social purpose group ForViva has appointed Colette McKune MBE as its new Group Chief Executive.
The group reinvests all of its profits in activities and initiatives that have a positive impact on people. This includes projects aimed at preventing homelessness, improving health, wellbeing and creating new job opportunities.
ForViva group members include 24,000-home social landlord ForHousing and national property services business Liberty.
Colette, who was awarded an MBE in 2015 for services to the community, said that ForViva would continue to act as a “force for good” that would challenge inequalities, promote diversity and make a difference to people’s lives.
She said: “We believe in a better way to do business. One that gives back and does great things by focusing on positive outcomes and using profits for good."
8. Paul McNicholas
Total Fitness has appointed Paul McNicholas to its Board as Operations Director.
Paul will oversee the day-to-day running of Total Fitness’ 17 health clubs, located across the North of England and Wales.
In particular, Paul will continue to drive the business’ ‘people-powered’ transformation which has seen it turn-around a shrinking membership with figures showing a membership growth of 6,000 in 2019 to date. He will also help plan tactical capital investment across the estate in both property and the latest fitness equipment.
He said: "This is an exciting project and one which is being driven by our people. We are making a significant investment in our teams to allow them to achieve their full potential and feel connected to Total Fitness’ purpose."
9. Iain Moran
Innovator of road blocker, bollards and vehicle barrier systems, ATG Access, has promoted Iain Moran to sales and marketing director.
Having worked at ATG Access for the past 18 years, Iain is "hugely experienced" and has helped to shape the company’s success in the 海角视频 and internationally, including in Australia and the USA.
As part as his new role, Iain will lead a team of 11 to deliver growth targets, both internationally and in the 海角视频, as the business continues to expand and develop more cutting edge products.
10. Anna Salisbury
Jackson Lees Group has appointed an experienced litigator, Anna Salisbury, to its commercial litigation team.
Anna specialises in insolvency (both personal and company), general debt recovery, commercial and civil disputes including breach of contract and professional negligence claims. She represents individuals, sole practitioners, limited companies and PLCs.
With over 12 years’ experience, she has worked across the North West representing clients at both Liverpool and Manchester High Court on high value complex cases – including being involved in a two-year fraud case recovering assets over £18m.
She said: “I’m delighted to have joined the Jackson Lees team and to be working alongside such a stellar group of professionals.

11. Persia Shahkarami and 12. Duncan Swan
A leading 海角视频 expert in consumer research has been appointed Head of Research at the integrated communications agency Influential.
Duncan Swan, a specialist in fast moving consumer goods and customer insight research, was most recently a director of full service market research company, Vision One.
Persia Shahkarami has also been appointed as Inbound Marketing Manager.
Persia has worked in a range of B2B and B2C marketing roles, and is a specialist in content marketing and automation, producing lead generation campaigns that encompass all digital channels.
13. Dr Carol Treasure
The Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS) has invited Sci-Tech Daresbury-based Dr Carol Treasure to join the Council.
The Founder and CEO of safety testing lab XCellR8 will serve on the Publicity and Recruitment committee with a focus on building the SCS brand, engaging members and prospective members through social media and growing the membership.
Carol has been a member of the SCS since 2009, has been a regular speaker at educational events over the years and shares the Society’s aim of advancing the science of cosmetics.
She is focused particularly on the area of vegan safety and efficacy testing.
Dr Treasure said: “The SCS has been an invaluable support to me as my career in cosmetics testing has developed, by providing an educational platform and opportunities to meet like-minded scientists.
"They have always been at the forefront of new science and I’m looking forward to playing my part in sharing news of upcoming events, new trends and innovations.”
14. Neil Turnbull
National law firm Simpson Millar has announced the appointment of Neil Turnbull as head of strategic partnerships.
With more than 25-years’ experience in the legal industry, he has been tasked with building on, and, strengthening the firm’s relationships with key partners, with a focus on trade unions, charities, and wider non-government organisations.
He said: “I am excited to be taking on this national role at Simpson Millar and to spearhead the firm’s approach to building strong partnerships as it continues to grow and expand.
“Simpson Millar already has a strong relationship with many trade unions and a number of fantastic charities, and I look forward to continuing to drive these partnerships forward as well as developing new partnerships – all with the aim of providing the very best service to their members.”
15. Helen Whiting
West Lancashire IFA Acumen Financial Partnership has appointed a new senior adviser to cover the Merseyside region.
Helen Whiting brings almost 20 years’ experience as a qualified adviser to the Burscough-based firm, where she will specialise in pensions and investments.
Having joined Lloyds Banking Group in 2000, Helen later worked for wealth management firms FMG in Liverpool and Gee & Watson in Wirral.
16. Fatoş Üstek
The new Director of Liverpool Biennial, curator and art writer Fatoş is regarded as one of the rising stars in the international art scene.
Having been associate curator for the 10th Gwangju Biennale in South Korea in 2014, she is an external member of the Acquisitions Committee for the Arts Council Collection.
She said: "In my new role I will be taking Liverpool as my point of reference, while reflecting on current global discourses and developments in the international arena. I look forward to inviting everyone to join me and the Liverpool Biennial team in the city of Liverpool in 2020 for the 11th Biennial.”
