14 Yorkshire firms make Top 200 list of best º£½ÇÊÓÆµ exporters

They form part of a list of 18 North East and Yorkshire stars which have grown export sales by an average of 40%

Recruiters, industrial suppliers, engineers and meat wholesalers are among firms from across Yorkshire to be singled out on a list of the most successful exporters in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ.

A total of 14 companies have made the 12th annual Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league table, which ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing international sales.

The overall list comprises companies from an eclectic mix of sectors, with industrial firms figuring especially strongly, alongside recruitment consultancies and health, industrial hardware and tech suppliers.

They form part of a list of 18 North East and Yorkshire stars which have grown their international sales by an average of 40% a year over the last two years to a total of £746m, all are profitable and together they employ more than 8,500 people.

The region’s top-ranked company is Naylor Industries in Barnsley at 39th, with overseas sales of £3.6m, which had increased by 76% over the two years, aiding its overall sales of £55.6m. With 380 staff, its clay drainage system was used to build a Fruit of the Loom factory in Morocco.

They were closely followed by Wakefield’s modular building manufacturer Thurston Group at 41 with an increase of 76% to £3.2m.

Bee Health in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, is at 108 with sales growth of 37% over the last two years, taking international sales to £2.3m out of total sales of £28.6m. The company, which has 267 staff, produces 400m vitamin capsules and tablets a week at its factory.

At number 152 in the list is JBA Group, an environmental consultancy in Skipton, North Yorkshire. It saw exports rise 27% to £7.8m, giving total sales of £38.7m. Its 665 staff include 650 engineers, consultants and scientists who work on projects from offices in nine countries
