The boss of the stalled Wylfa Newydd nuclear project says the industry has to fight for the future of the development.
He warned the Nuclear New Build Conference that there had to be a collective "fight" from the sector or there was no hope of re-starting the 拢12bn project.
Japanese firm Hitachi suspended the development in January after failing to reach a funding agreement with the 海角视频.
A bid to secure a Development Consent Order for the project is continuing.
This week the reported that Duncan Hawthorne told nuclear bosses: "We need to fight right now.
"The battle ground聽[for new nuclear]聽is right now, and if we don鈥檛 there is no hope of the Wylfa project restarting.
鈥淲e [Wylfa Newydd] cannot be the unwanted child of the nuclear sector.
"We聽have to step up our game.鈥
The decision to put the project - which would create 850 long term roles and thousands of jobs during the construction - on hold dealt an economic blow to north west Wales.
The 海角视频 government is now looking at a new funding model for the project with an energy white paper set to be published this summer.
In May the Welsh Affairs Committee said that if Hitachi is not prepared to resume development of the site, the 海角视频 Government should encourage it to sell the site to another developer who might be willing to resume works.
They said it should also seek out companies to develop alternative low carbon energy projects.
