Works starts on next phase of £10m Claylands business park

Construction firm Midas back on site of ambitious development

How the business park could look

Work is due to begin on the next stage of development at the £10million Claylands business park in Paignton, Devon, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Construction giant Midas will begin working on, on Monday, May 11, but insists safety precautions will be in effect.

The new facility will provide 6,000sq m of employment space, and will be home to multinational manufacturing company Casting Support Systems (CSS) Group.

CSS Group remains operational during the Covid-19 crisis, manufacturing products for the pharmaceutical industry.

The new operation will include earth works and preparations to develop a highway to provide access to the site from Long Road. Lane closures and traffic management will be in place for 17 weeks to enable this.

The development is funded by £2.04million of the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership’s (HotSW LE) Unlocking Growth Funding and an £8million investment in the site by Torbay Council.

Andy McAdam, executive director at Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group, said: “We are pleased to be able to continue to work on the project during this challenging period.

“We have a strong and longstanding relationship with TDA and we are pleased to be part of this critical project for the South West region and its businesses.
