Construction work has started on a development of 336 homes in Thornbury in South Gloucestershire.

Miller Homes’ Cleve Wood development, located off Morton Way, will include two, three, four and five-bedroom properties, including 123 affordable homes.

The housebuilder has also earmarked a £1.6m to invest in community services, roads and green spaces for Thornbury and its surrounding areas.

Transport links and outdoor recreation spaces have also been included as part of the build, alongside a woodland management scheme to ensure that trees are protected in the area.

The proposals include the installation of three new bus shelters that will provide real-time information on services to the area. The road improvements will be carried out on Grovesend Road and at the Church Street junction with the A38.

Martyn Grimes of Miller Homes said: “We can easily see why Thornbury has consistently been recognised as one of the best places to live in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and we are delighted to be starting work on this latest neighbourhood."

Mr Grimes said the housebuilder had been "working closely" with the local council and residents to make sure the new development would be "sympathetic" to its surroundings.

"As well as being grateful for their feedback, we have also been inspired by their passion and pride for their local community," he said.
