Work has finally re-started at a housing development site in Wrexham halted after the financial crash in 2007.
Harron Homes started the project at Heol Berwyn, Cefn Mawr, but it was left unfinished following the collapse of the housing market - with only one home completed.
It left an eyesore 鈥榖light on the community鈥 - having become rodent infested and a target for anti-social behaviour.
But Wales & West Housing bought the site and recently secured planning for 34 affordable homes.
Anwyl Partnerships were awarded the 拢5.2million development project in April and now work is underway on the estate which will be called Wrenbury Court.
Mike Nevitt, managing director of Anwyl Partnerships commented: 鈥淚t鈥檚 fantastic to see this project underway.
鈥淚t is an important site in terms of its location that not only represents an important regeneration 鈥榢ick-starter鈥 but will create much needed additional housing stock within Wrexham.
鈥淚nitial site clearance works are now underway and with a programme of 15 months, we will be completing and handing over the project in November 2022.
鈥淲e continue to work closely with Wales & West Housing, building homes and community throughout North Wales and are pleased to be working with them once again at this great scheme.鈥
Gary Cook, regional development manager for Wales & West Housing in North Wales, said: 鈥淭here is a continued shortage of high quality affordable homes in the Wrexham area and we are pleased that our new homes at Wrenbury Court will help alleviate this.
鈥淥nce completed, the development will revitalise the site and provide a secure, safe place to live for individuals and families.
鈥淲ales & West Housing is continuing with its ambitious development programme throughout 2022 and the homes at Wrenbury Court will be among many we handover to new residents during the year.鈥
