Work due to start on 285 new homes in Cornwall

Developer Treveth to begin schemes in Bodmin and Redruth with ambition for properties to go to local people

How the development of 185 homes in Tolgus, Redruth, Cornwall, could look

Work is about to start on building nearly 300 homes in Cornwall - with the houses intended for people who already live and work near the developments.

Construction is imminent at sites in Bodmin and at Tolgus, near Redruth, as developer Treveth accelerates its major house building programme in the duchy.

Preparations are now under way for the start on site of 100 homes at the former St Lawrence’s Hospital site in Bodmin, and 185 homes close to Redruth School, in Tolgus.

Contractors have been appointed to both schemes, with the Bodmin scheme to be built by Mi-space, part of the Midas Group, and at Tolgus by regeneration specialists Vistry Partnerships.

Treveth is delivering more than 600 homes during the next three years, which in addition to the projects at Bodmin and Tolgus includes sites at Liskeard, where work is already progressing, and upcoming schemes at Newquay and Launceston.

Cornish for “homestead”, Treveth is a partnership set up by Cornwall Council to deliver new homes and commercial development to benefit people who live and work in the county.

Its mission includes improving the quality of new homes in Cornwall, especially in the volatile private rented sector, and making them available to local people.

Treveth will prioritise local people first when renting its properties, with its developments aimed at households which have a local connection either through residency, employment or close family, and the majority of homes available will be private rented or affordable properties.
