Worcestershire County Council's leader will step down from his role after being caught drink-driving just days before Christmas.
Tory councillor Adrian Hardman said he would admit the offence when he appeared in court next month.
He said: "Drinking and driving was a gross misjudgement on my part and I would like to apologise.

"In doing so, I have fallen short of the standards I set for myself and those that I expect from my fellow Worcestershire county councillors.
"I will therefore be standing down as leader at the next full council meeting on January 14. I will be pleading guilty in court and accept the punishment that is handed to me."
Coun Hardman, who represents the Bredon ward south of Worcester, was stopped by police in Tewkesbury on December 22.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: "A 59-year-old man from Bredon was charged with drink-driving after he was arrested on Bredon Road, Tewkesbury, at around 8pm on Tuesday December 22."
He is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on January 18.

The arrest was part of Gloucestershire Police's annual anti-drink drive campaign, which has been actively supported by councillors and saw 54 people arrested in just four weeks last year.
Coun Hardman has been leader of the council since November 2010.
He previously served on West Mercia's police and crime panel, where he was responsible for holding police and crime commissioner Bill Longmore to account.
