Women in Property has appointed a new chair for South Wales

Georgia Thomson will take on the regional role at the organisation which encourages more women to work in property and construction

Georgia Thomson is the new South Wales Chair for Women in Property

Women in Property has announced its incoming South Wales chair for 2022-2023.

Georgia Thomson, commercial director for Englobe º£½ÇÊÓƵ, based in Cardiff, will take on the regional role leading the networking organisation for the property and construction industry for one year.

Ms Thomson specialises in the remediation of brownfield sites and sustainable re-use of treated contaminated soil.

She said: “To achieve diversity in an organisation you have first to be inclusive. This has been the Women in Property ethos since its inception back in 1987 and our work continues with this at our core. Now the conversation is less about gender specifically and has a greater focus on inclusion.”

She added: “We must continue to break through the barriers, the preconceived ideas that still make it difficult for many people to succeed, whether because of gender, race, age, disability or social mobility.”

Ms Thomson will be supported in her role by incoming Vice Chair, Laura Beddis, business development manager of Galliford Try. She will hold the role of South Wales Chair until 28th February 2023 when Ms Beddis will succeed her.

Head of sales at Englobe º£½ÇÊÓƵ Simon Walker said: “Georgia is a fantastic ambassador for Englobe across all facets of the company and will certainly be a valued leader for Women in Property in South Wales. I look forward to the initiatives in the forthcoming year.”
