Wizz Air º£½ÇÊÓƵ will start flights from its new base at Cardiff Airport this summer.

The British airline, of Europe’s fast grow airline group, has confirmed that, following the Welsh Government’s lifting of the ban on international travel, will start operations on 17 June.

Owain Jones, managing director of Wizz Air º£½ÇÊÓƵ, said: “With the re-start of international travel from Wales, we’re excited to be planning the start of Wizz Air º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s new base at Cardiff Airport in June, just in time for the holiday season.

"We’ve been busy recruiting new colleagues, with the first training course in Cardiff already completed, and Wizz Air º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s Cardiff team is looking forward to welcoming customers on-board Wales’ new hometown airline.

"Our ultra-low fares to nine of the best holiday destinations will allow customers to 'fly local' to their favourite getaways, onboard Europe’s youngest and greenest fleet of aircraft, where they can rely on our stringent health and hygiene measures and excellent service as they travel on their long-awaited post-lockdown trips.”

The new base will be operating routes to Larnaca, Corfu, Heraklion, Faro, Alicante, Lanzarote, Palma de Mallorca, and Tenerife, with flights to Sharm el-Sheikh planned to start in October.

Wizz Air’s Welsh customers and those from South West England will be able to book tickets with the airline’s travel insurance package, which includes Covid-19 cover and WIZZ Flex. With WIZZ Flex, passengers can cancel their flight up to three hours before departure without any fee and receive 100% of the fare immediately reimbursed in airline credit.
