Wind energy giant Orsted has today launched its new safety training programme after a 拢1.4m investment.
The company, which is developing the massive Hornsea Two wind farm project, has teamed up with training specialist Active Training Team (ATT) to launch "fully immersive safety training programme" Thrive at the Modal Training Centre in Immingham.
Thrive is a one-day interactive, programme that is designed to transform people's behaviour and attitudes to safety. Workers will take part in a multi-media scenario that explores the build-up to a fatal incident and lets them see its consequences.
The project has brought some 60 new jobs and contracts to the Humber, with actors, production crew and construction workers hired locally to support the project.
The programme was going to be launched earlier in the year, but was delayed due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
All personnel working on Hornsea Two will be inducted from autumn before training is rolled out to other Orsted colleagues.
Jason Ledden, Orsted senior construction project manager for Hornsea Two and the project manager for the Thrive facility, said: 鈥淪afety is a core value and as such, it has been extremely difficult to postpone the roll out of this pivotal training.

"We鈥檝e reduced numbers and introduced safety measures to ensure that our programme is fully compliant with government guidelines under these difficult circumstances.
鈥淲e hope that other industries across the Humber will utilise this new exciting resource which aims to bring about behavioural changes in attitudes towards safety.鈥
Orsted hopes other Humber companies will also use the training programme, and ports giant ABP has already committed to the project.
Henrik Pedersen, CEO of ABP, said: 鈥淎BP is one of the largest employers in the region and the 海角视频鈥檚 leading port operator with a network of 21 ports across Britain.
"With such a large operation of many moving parts, safety is of critical importance to everything we do. Safety is a core value at ABP, and the Thrive safety leadership centre is an integral part of ABP鈥檚 Behavioural Safety Training programme. 鈥
ATT works with major organisations across the 海角视频 and Europe, including Siemens and Transport for London.
ATT's co-director Dermot Kerrigan said: 鈥淎s well as the wind power version of the programme, for use by 脴rsted鈥檚 Hornsea Two and other clients in the renewables sector, we also look forward to hosting bespoke versions of the programme for a variety of industries in the region 鈥 and beyond.鈥
