Prime Johnson may be self-isolating but he is still at the centre of critical decisions on fighting the pandemic and the economy, Minister for Health, Matt Hancock has insisted.

Next Wednesday Rishi Sunak is set to outline the economic priorities for the country in 2021 in the Autumn Spending Review.

And Downing Street has insisted that despite the PM's self isolation, he is as 'fit as a butcher's dog' and will be pressing ahead with plans to tackle the coronavirus outbreak, moves for “levelling up” across the country, and education and environmental investment initiatives.

But what impact will these announcements have on business?

Northern 'Levelling Up'

On Monday, the Prime Minister was due meet with Tory MPs from the newly formed Northern Research Group (NRG), Downing Street said.

The NRG was set-up to press the case for “levelling-up” northern England and boosting the local economy in that part of the country.

Green recovery

Also this week, a blueprint for a “green industrial revolution”is due to be announced, creating new national parks and thousands of jobs.

The Prime Minister said a 10-point environmental plan would protect England’s “iconic” landscapes.
