Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, Rebecca Evans, will address the next meeting of Cardiff Breakfast Club in March. Ms Evans, who is also the MS for Gower, was appointed to her current ministerial role by First Minister Eluned Morgan last September.
Her wide-ranging responsibilities include those for the Development Bank of Wales, the renewable and nuclear sectors, as well as having at arm’s oversight of Cardiff Airport.
She has previously held a number ministerial roles, including being Cabinet Secretary for Finance.
Last year she announced a speeding up of planning for renewable projects under 50 megawatts. This will see decisions being made by planning body PEDW and not, as currently, a final decision then being made by Welsh Government minister (s).
Ms Evans was first elected to the Senedd in May 2010, representing the Mid and West Wales region. She became the MS for Gower, succeeding minister Edwina Hart, in 2016.
She received a degree in history from the University of Leeds, and a master of philosophy degree in historical studies from Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge. Before entering politics she worked in the third sector.
She will address Cardiff Breakfast Club, on March 19th at the home of Glamorgan Cricket, Sophia Gardens. The event will start at 7:30am. Tickets can be bought by visiting the club’s
