Welsh Government will today announce a further £110m of financial support for businesses hit by the latest lockdown.

First Minister Mark Drakeford announced this week that non-essential retail, leisure and close contact services like hair salons, will have to close after trading finishes on Christmas Eve.

This will be followed by hospitality after 6pm on Christmas Day as Wales moves into alert Level 4 on December 28 with similar restrictions to the firebreak lockdown.

These measures will continue until at least mid-January as overall Welsh Covid rates rise.

To support businesses hit by the latest restrictions the government will today announce a further £110m in funding.

The new support package is expected to help tens of thousands of firms across Wales.

Hospitality, non-essential retail, tourism, leisure and supply chain businesses will be eligible for the financial assistance.

The funding is in addition to the £340m support for businesses which the Welsh Government announced at the end of November.
