DTZ and GVA make hay while sun shines in high-scoring week

DTZ and GVA secured further victories in a high-scoring week.

DTZ and GVA both nearly passed 200 in their first innings and, as a result, CP Bigwood and DAC Beachcroft came up short.

Andy Boyde made a half-century and reached 62. Despite the efforts of Rory Daley, the chase was never really on, and DAC Beachcroft will not be overly impressed with their tournament debut.

The bowling could be described as a mixed bag. One ball bowled by Lloyd Smith was unfortunately rather too accurate for the batsman, who soon realised that not wearing a box was a rather painful mistake.

Mubashar Riaz reached his retirement with a huge six. His work was not done there as he came on to bowl one over of testing spin, which saw him return figures of three for one.

GVA marched home by a massive margin of 148 runs with the lawyers back to the drawing board.

But the lack of umpires, tea or opposition for the Mainstay Group ensured that even when the sun is shining it is not possible to get a game of cricket in. A missing letter in an email was suspected to blame for the mix-up.

Warwickshire Taverners Trophy, July 2: DTZ 196 for 6 (Andy Boyde 62, Joe Williams 35, Forrest 3/17) beat CP Bigwood 144 all out (Rory Daly 29 not out) by 52 runs
