Wales house prices increased by 10.7% last year - faster than the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ average

Blaenau Gwent showed the strongest growth, rising by 16.3% - followed by Torfaen, Flintshire and Neath Port Talbot

House prices in Wales increased by 10.7% in the year to December 2020.

Over the 12 months the average price of a home jumped from £166K to £184K.

House prices in Wales were growing faster than the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ annual rate of 8.5%.

This comes amid growing concerns over young people and families being able to get on the housing ladder.

In Wales, all 22 local authority areas showed an increase in average house prices in December 2020 when compared with December 2019.

Blaenau Gwent showed the strongest growth, rising by 16.3% to £109,000.

This was followed by Torfaen (15.5%), Neath Port Talbot (13.6%) and Flintshire (12.1%).

In contrast, Merthyr Tydfil showed the slowest growth in the year to December 2020, at 0.2% with the average house prices at £119,000.
