The deputy tourism minister for Wales was this week asked to provide Welsh holiday parks with a reopening date so they can plan for the season ahead.

Welsh Government has said it is considering allowing self contained accommodation and outdoor attractions to open from the Easter weekend.

But no confirmation has been given at this stage with an update expected at the March 12 coronavirus briefing by Welsh Government.

In England, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has laid out a roadmap with an April 12 opening date for self contained accommodation like caravans and cottages.

This week Clwyd West MS Darren Millar called on Welsh Government to provide Welsh holiday parks with clarity.

The Welsh Association of Visitor Attractions (WAVA) has also asked for a clear roadmap to reopening with key dates to enable tourism businesses to plan for the future.

Ms Mr Millar asked deputy tourism minister Dafydd Elis-Thomas at the Senedd: "As you will know, in Conwy and Denbighshire, we rely heavily on tourism as an industry, and we have amongst the very best holiday caravan sites and campsites in the whole of the United Kingdom.

“Operators tell me that it's very important that they have a clear understanding of when they will be able to reopen again, and if there is going to be a phased reopening, it does need to be cognisant of the fact that many people are owners of the caravans on those individual sites and will want to avail themselves of the facilities that they are paying for.
