The Welsh Government has received a 拢64.5m Barnett formula consequential as a result of the 海角视频 Government's decision to provide Transport for London with emergency funding.
The 拢1.6bn emergency support for Transport of London, where bus, tube and rail passenger numbers have plummeted due the Covid-19 pandemic, was announced earlier this week.
拢1.1bn is a grant and the remainder of the amount to Transport for London is in the form of a loan. The Barnett formula for the Welsh Government was only calculated on the 拢1.1bn grant element.
It will be matter for the Welsh Government to decide how it allocates the additional funding. It has already announced a 拢70m funding package to support hard hit bus and rail operators in Wales.
The total amount of funding provided by the 海角视频 Government to support the effort to tackle the coronavirus in Wales currently stands at over 拢2.2bn.
Secretary of State for Wales Simon Hart said: 鈥淢any transport organisations across the 海角视频 are facing hardship as a result of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, and those in Wales are no exception. While we are urging people to work from home where possible and only to travel when absolutely necessary, there are still those who need to travel to work and people need to be able to travel safely while respecting social distancing once restrictions are gradually lifted.
鈥淲hile it is up to the Welsh Government to decide how to allocate this additional funding, key transport services require protection so they can support Wales鈥 economic recovery from Covid-19.鈥
