Virgin Media's Wythenshawe base

Virgin Media has announced it will create 100 new customer service jobs in Manchester as the firm continues the rollout of its ultrafast network.

The firm, which has been praised for investing in the city and "providing brilliant career opportunities", said applications for the full and part-time roles based in Wythenshawe are now open.

It currently employs over 450 customer service staff across the city, with its wider mission to "upgrade the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and supercharge communities".

The firm said this investment in jobs will help it deliver next-generation gigabit speeds across its entire network by the end of the year, as well as expand its ultrafast network to hundreds of thousands more premises as part of its ‘Project Lightning’ programme.

Nicola Moore, director of people partnering, talent and careers at Virgin Media O2, which was launched in June 2021 after the firms' merger, said: “With 100 customer service roles now available, we’re continuing to step up and support our customers, as well as creating exciting job opportunities for people in the North West looking for their next career move.

“We are committed to creating new jobs and investing in our people so they can offer brilliant service to all of our customers as part of our mission to upgrade the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and supercharge communities.”

Councillor Gavin White, executive member for housing and employment at Manchester City Council, added: "The pandemic has had a massive impact on people's jobs and livelihoods and a key priority for us as we emerge from it is helping support our local residents back into work.
