The high-end chain has become the latest of a series of bars and restaurants to set up in Birmingham's business district

Upmarket bar-restaurant The Botanist has become the latest to flock to Birmingham’s business district.

The high-end chain will venture into the Midlands for the first time at on Temple Street, which has undergone a £1.2 million refurbishment programme.

It will open in March, creating about 100 jobs, and comes after the Post revealed the nearby Midland Bank building was and was to become a new restaurant.

The 5,000 sq ft pub and restaurant will serve botanical cocktails, craft beers and ales along with deli and rotisserie-inspired food.

The Birmingham venue is the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s sixth Botanist and will mark the company’s expansion into the Midlands, alongside its offerings in Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Chester and Alderley Edge.

Julian Rose-Gibbs, formerly of The Victoria on John Bright Street, has been appointed general manager at The Botanist, Birmingham.

He said: “The location in Cheltenham House on Temple Street is perfectly situated to benefit those working, living and visiting the city and we can’t wait to add to the exciting mix of leisure and hospitality in the area.”

The Post reported in December that Jersey-based trust Circle Property Unit had acquired Cheltenham House and invested in a refurb.
