University of Birmingham to launch Middle East campus

Edgbaston institute will expand its global reach by opening new hub in Dubai alongside other universities

University of Birmingham is launching a new campus in Dubai

The will expand its global reach later this year when it opens a new campus in Dubai.

The institute will become the first global top 100 and Russell Group University to establish a campus in the city when it launches in November.

The announcement marks the latest phase in the university's global expansion and builds upon its teaching activities in Singapore and China and international research collaborations.

Following approval by the Dubai Government's 'Knowledge and Human Development Authority', which is responsible for the growth and quality of education, the University of Birmingham Dubai will provide opportunities to study on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Initially, these will include business, economics, computer science, mechanical engineering and education, with further programmes to be offered in due course.

The university will be located in Dubai International Academic City, a leading international education hub with 25 other universities.

The first phase will open this autumn when recruitment will commence alongside a programme of masterclasses, careers events, guests lectures and activities with local schools before the first cohort of students commence their studies in September 2018.

Degrees in Dubai will be taught, examined and accredited to the same standards as those delivered on the university's campus in Birmingham.
