Union on offensive in Jaguar Land Rover pay dispute

Angry shop stewards have accused bosses of "investing millions around the globe on the back of the sweat of the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ workforce" - while piling up profits of £10 million a day.

The full extent of the divide between factory workers and Tata-owned management is revealed in an internal trade union brief to around 18,000 JLR employees ahead of a potential

near Wolverhampton, shop stewards have launched a withering attack on the company over a three-year pay and conditions offer worth around 14 per cent.

The document says five days of pay negotiations over a three-week period had "proved to be the most difficult talks in recent times".

It goes on: "Although this was a trade union pay claim, the company brought a number of controversial items to the table.

"We recognise that JLR need to expand globally in order for our products to be successful and competitive. However, we will not see that expansion to the detriment of the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ workforce.

"No doubt over the next week the company will deliver to you their 'Final Offer' in the normal glossy pamphlet; as with most 'Final Offers' the devil is in the detail..."

It goes on to say detailed claims over pay - including 'substantial increase to base salary,' 'harmonisation of all new starter rates, pay and conditions,' 'salaried pay bands to move in line with annual awards,' 'abolition of salaried pay for performance' and 'increase to holiday bonus' have not been satisfied.
