Former Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman Sir Jack Hayward OBE has passed away at the age of 91.

Sir Jack, who lived in the Bahamas and transformed the fortunes of the Molineux club when he bought it in 1990, passed away today (January 13).

In a statement, the club said he had been ill for several months and passed away in Fort Lauderdale.

It added: "Wolves would like to extend its deepest and most sincere condolences to Sir Jack鈥檚 wife, Lady Hayward, his companion of many years, Patti Bloom, and all his family and friends at home and across the world."

The businessman, who was a regular on the Birmingham Post Rich List, with his 拢130 million , sold Wolves to current owner Steve Morgan in 2007.

He spent his 90th birthday at an RAF-themed party at the Sir Charles Hayward Yacht Club, named after his father.

Knighted in 1986, he was fiercely patriotic and often known as 鈥淯nion Jack鈥 Hayward.
