Synthite of Mold has announced the sudden death of its long-standing managing director.

Kevin Jones, 64, passed away unexpectedly following a very short illness on October 17.

A well-known figure in the local business community, Kevin, who was born and raised in Flint, joined formaldehyde manufacturer Synthite in 1987 as a chemical engineer.

He became engineering manager, then general manager, following the company’s relocation of operations from West Bromwich to Mold in 1991, and managing director in 1999.

His wife, Donna, works at Synthite as management systems co-ordinator and their daughter, Sarah, is an assistant accountant with the company.

Kevin also had a son, Chris, who is an engagement manager in Manchester.

Donna said: “The family has been very touched by the many kind messages and memories of Kevin.

“Synthite was an important part of Kevin’s life and he was proud to have built it into a successful, forward-looking business that gave work to people from the local community.”
