Trevor Burton to get a star on the Kings Heath Walk of Fame

Rock legend Trevor Burton has been honoured with a star on the Kings Heath Walk of Fame.

Birmingham-born Burton, a founder member of The Move, received the honour during a ceremony at the Hare and Hounds pub.

The Move scored nine Top 20 hits in the 1960s, including Flowers in the Rain – the first single played on Radio One on September 30, 1967.

The song, which reached number two in the charts, was followed by hits including Fire Brigade and Blackberry Way.

Burton, who has lived in Kings Heath for 20 years, was presented with his star by fellow musician Steve Ajao.

He said: “To have been chosen for a star on the Walk Of Fame was fantastic and I would like to thank all involved for making it happen.

“It’s more than 40 years from when I first played at the Ritz Ballroom in Kings Heath with The Move.

“I remember it as being one of the top gigs on the Birmingham circuit.Burton’s star will join that given to singer and actor Toyah Wilcox star at the spot in York Road.
