Top 30 Under 30's civic backing for 2024 as successful leadership journey to be rolled out elsewhere

Six years of Hull and Humber success gives founder the conviction to launch in new locations

Top 30 Under 30’s successful class of 2023 has been celebrated in fine style as attention now turns to its seventh year.

And securing the backing of two of the four local authority areas it serves has delighted founder Simon Jones, with civic pride in a talent pipeline service that could now be replicated elsewhere.

The nomination-based provision sees successful candidates embark on a leadership journey, equipping them with key skills to help them soar. 2024 will see the number supported in the Humber region pass 200, and with a proven formula and strong support from some of the area’s biggest and brightest companies, the model is set to be rolled out and replicated - with West Yorkshire to launch soon.

Mr Jones, who led the celebrations at Hull’s DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on Friday night, said: “We’ve come a long way, which is nice. Seeing Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council come on board for 2024 is a real step up for us, a real display of confidence from those organisations. There’s an energy at the moment in the region, around change and what is coming up - with devolution too - and I hope this level of ambition that both leaders seem to share will translate into real deliverables for the business community and young people.”

The new partners were revealed to a gala dinner celebration with live music and games for all to enjoy as the drinks flowed. Both leaders were there to witness the 2023 successes, hearing from the latest and previous alumni on stage.

Cllr Mike Ross, leader of Hull City Council, said: “We believe in the Top 30 Under 30 programme because of what it offers. This is about investing in future talent, and that’s something we should all want to see take place. I’ve seen just just how much it has meant to those who have taken part.”

Cllr Anne Handley, his counterpart at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “It empowers our young people to believe in themselves and that is what they should do. They are our future, our future leaders, our future directors, our future CEOs.
