The ten countries that could be added to Government's green travel list on June 24

Early reports indicate there could be good news for holiday makers

Valletta, Malta - one of the countries that could be added to the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's green list

Ten more countries that include Italy and Spain could be added to the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's green travel list, reports suggest.

At present, Spain, France, Italy and the US are all on the amber list, which means people returning to the º£½ÇÊÓƵ must self-isolate at home for 10 days - and there are no major summer holiday hotspots on the quarantine-free green list.

The Government is urging people to avoid holidays to , although the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) does not advise against travel to any of these destinations,

Paul Charles, chief executive of travel consultancy The PC Agency, was among leading figures in the sector who expressed outrage when Portugal was moved to the amber list last week, as it meant no viable major tourist destination was in the green tier.

Mr Charles claimed: "Portugal and other countries such as Malta, Morocco and Grenada should be on the green list but decisions on restrictions were "highly political, not based on data at all."

However, on June 24 the government will update

And early reports suggest as many as 10 nations will be added to the green list, effectively giving holidaymakers the green light to book trips and enjoy holidays.
