Sutton Coldfield and Solihull dominate most expensive property list

A total of 34 properties in the Birmingham area sold for more than £1 million in 2014

Farquhar Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham

A six-bedroom Edgbaston mansion with marble floors, ornate decorations and a sauna was the most expensive property sold in Birmingham last year – with a price tag of £1.6 million.

The home on Farquhar Road, two miles from the city centre, also features a driveway with enough space to park numerous cars, a meticulously landscaped garden and a games room for kids.

And with three reception rooms and a conservatory, the new owners would have had plenty of space for an extravagant housewarming.

The impressive house was one of 34 properties in the Birmingham area to sell for more than £1 million in 2014.

That was up from 23 in 2013.

Of those pricey properties, 22 were in Birmingham – double the number in 2013.

In Solihull, 11 properties commanded a price of a million or more.

And in Walsall, one house on Vale Avenue, Aldridge, fetched £1.3 million.
