Businesses seeking a better understanding of how they can work with climate change are being urged to take advantage of a recent funding win.

The Flood Innovation Centre, led by University of Hull’s Energy and Environment Institute, has received backing from the European Regional Development Fund to drive innovation and support different approaches and solutions to flood resilience.

The team can provide fully funded support to eligible businesses in Hull, East Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.

A new series of weekly drop-in sessions are being held at Aura Innovation Centre at Bridgehead Business Park, Hessle, with teams from the university’s dedicated low carbon research and development facility joining.

Flood Innovation Centre project manager Pip Betts said: “Members of our team, together with representatives of Aura Innovation Centre, will be on hand every Friday to chat with businesses about the effects of climate change and help them consider ways in which they can adapt in order to ensure that they can continue to thrive and build resilience into their business to meet the challenges ahead.

“Whether you’re confused about your carbon footprint, worried about how flooding could affect your business or want to get an edge over your competitors by offering environmentally friendly products and services, you’re very welcome to call in any time between 10am and 2pm for an informal chat. We’re a friendly bunch and always keen to offer help and advice if we can. Even if you just fancy seeing the cutting-edge facilities on offer at Aura Innovation Centre, it’s well worth sparing an hour to call in one Friday.”
